Who we are

The Youth for Sustainable Oral Health (YSOH) is a movement of young oral health professionals around the world who want to make oral health more sustainable, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Youth are clear that action on climate change and sustainability is needed now, and we aim to ensure that the oral health community is at the forefront of this action.

Our Vision

We are committed to integrating sustainability in all its facets into oral health systems across the globe

To achieve this, we want to create a strong sustainable movement in the field of oral health, to ensure that everyone has access to the knowledge and the opportunity to make a change!

This is only possible through collaboration with all oral health professionals, associations, institutions, from all generations and all countries. Oral health solutions based on planetary health and the sustainable development goals are urgently required, and these need to be integrated into oral health education throughout the professional life, from undergraduate training through to continuing professional development.

Our Founders of YSOH

Milena Hegenauer

"Knowing that many people do not have access to good oral health, and that our profession is responsible for a growing amount of waste, shows me every day how important it is to work together to change and shape the future."

Zino Volkmann

"We as the future of oral health can make the change together and ensure that oral health becomes more sustainable. This means promoting research, dialog with decision makers and increasing the awareness of sustainability in all its facets."

James Coughlan

"Youth should always have a seat at the table in decision making, and it is so important now more than ever that young people come together to clearly advocate for a more sustainable future, including within the oral health community."
