What does sustainability have to do with me as an oral health professional?

The question you probably ask yourself sooner or later is “what does sustainability have to do with me? Why are you, as part of the oral health profession, in demand when it comes to how we can make sustainability an integral part of our profession?

Why does it take dental nurses, dental hygienists, students, dentists, scientists, universities, and many more to really make sustainability a reality?

The answer is simple:

Firstly, it is often not possible to wait for outside regulation, or regulation is not a long-term solution for us all to pull together. We think that innovation is the catalyst to protect our planet with all its creatures and to eliminate injustice.

Secondly, we can only develop concepts for practising sustainability together with as many facets of the oral health profession as possible.

We are not failing in the most important task of the 21st century because of its sheer size, but because of selfish actions and self-centred thinking.

It is time that together we do everything in our power to create a liveable future for ourselves and many generations to come.
